1972 Gas tank vent problem?!?!?!?

Ok so I have a 1972 Cheyenne Super and ofcourse my truck came with the one year only tank with the emissions nonsense and the carbon canister stuff. installed a tuned port injection set up on my truck and ofcourse did away with the carbon canister. I removed the hard line loop from the passenger side of the cab and put a rubber cap over the tank fitting. I don't think my cap is vented because now I am getting a lot of pressure buildup and the tank is being sucked in until I relieve pressure by opening the cap. How cap I fix this without installing a new tank and without having a gas smell in the cab? Reinstall the hard line loop and leave it open underneath the cab? Can I get a vented cap? Is my '72 cap vented? Thanks for any help.

balkcamp vented cap 703-1220 from napa will work(i have heard). It also seems like running the other line outside of the cap would be a great ideal, but i have never tried it

I left the hard line loop up in the cab, and let that vent out beneath the cab. It worked great.

get a cap for a 69. You can get it at autozone or anywhere else. May as well get 2 though, the rubber only lasts a couple years at best. I had one leaking down the side of the truck in less than a week.
Craptastic at best. (but is IS pretty chrome)

The 69 cap will not work. I think the catches are too short.

that's the way i've always done it safe and simple. i did run the vent hose back a few feet in back of the cab so not to get fumes in cab
