Re: 69 or 70 grille
the outers are the same but the inners are different
69 has a silver painted eggcrate 70 when you look from a distance it looks as if it has nothches in the chrome on the eggcrate inner grille hope that makes sense |

Re: 69 or 70 grille
They both look like '70 inner grilles,... to me.

It's just a faded version of the lower '70 grille.

Re: 69 or 70 grille
Look at the lower grille.
The 4 highlighted (with silver paint) horizontal lines,... were what designated them as a '70 grille. The grille is actually raised in these areas. The '69 grilles were a solid "eggcrate pattern,... with out the raised areas. All the repop grilles are the 70 version. (That I have seen) I have an NOS grille that was ordered from my GM dealer in 1995. It was ordered for a '69. When I opened the box,... it was a '70 grill with the eggcrate area painted solid silver to replicate a '69 grille. I'll try to find you a picture of an original '69 inner grille.

Re: 69 or 70 grille
The only noticeable change for 1970 was a minor update to the Chevrolet grille. At first glance, the 1969 and 1970 grille appear identical. However, 1970's plastic inserts actually have highlights that break the appearance into 6 separate sections.

Re: 69 or 70 grille
Yes.
I try to buy all the good '69 grilles I can afford. So far,... I have none.

Re: 69 or 70 grille
But I would be interested in buying the lower '70 grille,... (in the first picture),... if you want to sell it,... and if I can afford shipping.
(I have both a '69 and a '70 truck).

Re: 69 or 70 grille
If I remember right, I seen somewhere that the outers are different too, between the turnsignal and headlight opening. One makes a "loop" in the "rib" and the other runs to the headlight opening like the ones above.
