Re: building my first lowered truck
did some more work today. looking for input on my shaving skills, unsure of the proper process so enlighten me please. also my idea on shock location, i know its a regressive shock angle but its all i can come up with without buying or building axle tabs for the lower shock mounts.
firewall patch templates cut transfered to metal give you guys an idea of how big a sheet of sheet metal is. lol first i did basically a practice patch on the bed, i did as many tacks as possible before i sanded it down, which i did with a 120 grit flap wheel, came out horrible i think but the panel wasnt straight to begin with lol did another layer of tacks, became inpatient and didnt jump around, reason for the excessive heat for the next one, i did a different process. i would grind down the welds as i went i i used a cut off wheel instead of a flap disc on to the shocks, i just threw them on with a few tacks, they are the stockers and cycle 8.5" of travel. really limits the lift but its still more then enough. from my research a regressive shock angle is bad but idk if it really matters for a lowered truck like it does for a long travel pre runner. also if i do mount them here it will be on top of the link, not on the side full lift laid out |
