275/60r 15 , is about all you can get under it without any more mods, might be a little tight on the front, fender might come down on the wheel with a four inch drop.

Re: Tire size for Rally rims

I'd consider the rear end ratio if you're planning on a lot of driving. A taller tire mite help a bit. On my bagged 'burb I ran 295/50/15's and 255/60/15's. With the '66 LB I went with 235/70/15's all around.

Which lowering kit are you running? and are those 15x8 on there? the kit i'm looking at is 4"drop in rear x 3"drop in front does that make sense.

The '65 has a 2/4 drop. Running 15x7's in the front with 245/60's and 15x8's in the rear with 275/60's.

Re: Tire size for Rally rims

I have 255/70's on an 8" rally on my '74. It helps fill the fender well. Mine is a little lower though.

Re: Tire size for Rally rims

Are you running power steering,? If your not going any lower than mine 15x8 is fine, lower and I would step down to a 7, only because of the interferance issue while turning into a steep driveway for instance.

Are you sure it's 373?? I thought a 275/60/15 was at least 28'' tall; I considered that size before deciding on the 70's series and narrower tires.

Re: Tire size for Rally rims

Yes I`m pretty sure it is, going by the numbers that were on the housing some many years ago, I`m into thrd gear (turbo 350 ) standard 2 lane intersection before I even clear it...

265/70/15 on 15x8 rallye-rear
255/70/15 on 15x7 rallye-front
I have to watch sharp turns and driveways, the fronts rub, 4/5 drop.

From what I have read here, the disk brake kits move the wheels out, so clearance would be tighter if your running disk too.

Re: Tire size for Rally rims

275 50 15 look like a custom centering job on the rallies. I would not mind going a 1/2 " narrower. but if you change any aspect on these metric tires everything is changed. I do not understand how it is better than dimension tall x dimension wide x rim diameter. thats like everything there is to know about tire size in a few simple numbers. or we can resort to the algebra [widthXaspectx2] /2550+rim diameter. for the height and w/25.50 for the width. for those that prefer the hard way. stupid. I found an online calculator a few years ago that would give you the rpm and effective gear ratio with a given size tire. my 275/60/15 with 3.50 came out to the equevalent of 4.10 with stock tire diameter. not terrible but not 75mph either. especially with flowmasters. those had to go.
