Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

I'm glad everyone is OK.

I have ZERO tolerance for drunk drivers. I've seen the death and destruction first hand, lost my HS sweetheart to a drunk driver. Growing up in my Dad's gas station/towing business and spending a few years in law enforcement exposed me to all that is wrong about driving drunk/impaired.

I can't explain the anguish of having to knock on a door at 2:00 AM to break the news to a stranger that one of their loved ones is dead.

Please don't ever put your family/friends in that position.

Sorry, it's an emotional subject for me.

Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

S10Fan, I hear you on this, my brother was killed by a drunk driver in 1985. This is also an emotional subject for me, and I have NO tolerance for someone driving drunk. IMO, I think that if a drunk driver kills someone in an accident they show be charged with murder, there is no excuse.

Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

My family too has been touched by drunk drivers. I know this sounds harsh but I wish every drunk driver where chrged with attempted murder and if they do kill someone with 1st degree murder and given the maximum penalty allowed by law. I hope it is a capital punishment state too.

Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

Well, here in California it was supposed to be those kind of punishments......then I guess the lawmakers wimped out...... I agree I think the laws should be way tougher than they are, there is NO excuse for this kinda thing happening and getting just a "hand slap" for "misbehaving"...... Its a simple rule have a drink, but then don't drive...........its not that hard I have been doing the don't drink and drive for 25+ years !.....

Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

My wife and I are so paranoid we refuse to have both of us under the influence at home. As parents we figure one of us should be able to drive should one of us need to drive, ya never know. It's not such a big deal for me since I found out I'm a diabetic (no drugs, just diet and exercise). If I'm going to down a bunch of carbs I'd rather they be in the form of French Fries or Pizza rather than a beer. LOL.

Darn it! No Beer and I quit smoking 3 years ago, why go on?

25% of all accidents are caused by drunk drivers...the other 75% are by people who drank juice ,soda, water ,etc.

Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

This story brings memory to my last wreck. i was sitting at a red light 4 way intersection with my wife dad and stepmom in my 02 xterra when i saw a guy run the red light on the left side of the intersection hitting me head on at an estimated 50 mph while i was still. the whole front end of my truck was knocked into the lane to my right and screwed up my front end. the only thing saving me from being seriously hurt was my brush guard it took the major impact of the blow and just pushed me off of his vehicle.then he kept on going he stuck his hand out the window and waved as he left. he ended up getting 15 tickets i believe, dui, leaving scene of accident with injury, resist arrest to name a few and was out of jail in two days.

a guy in a huge duramax chevy truck saw it, pulled a u-turn and hauled ass after him till the cops caught up, was a sight to watch that diesel light em up in the middle of a busy highway

i asked the police man very kindly where he was being taken because i wanted to beat his a$$ but he wouldnt let me i take a lot of pride in my vehicles and my xterra is the nicest vehicle i ever bought needless to say i was pi$$ed.

after thinking about it though im glad he hit me and not kill some innocent person but the problem is he already have a revoked license so how will they make him stop driving.

total damage to my truck was a little over 5k but they were able to fix it. it doesnt look as bad from the pic but it destroyed all the suspension under the drivers side

Re: suspected drunk driver was speeding

My roomate in college was t boned by a drunk driver. Sadly he lost all three of his kids who were riding in the back seat. He was driving a late 90s 4 door chevy truck. It tore the truck in half. Please dont drink and drive.
