Baby moon caps..

hey guys..wondering what most people think about running them vs. no caps at all.

im prepping my wheels this week, then painting them gloss black with a small white wall tire (very thin white wall), and was thinking of adding some moon caps to tie it all together. i found some cheap ones on ebay...but cant even tell if they fit lol. apparently these things come in a lot of sizes. i measured from outside nub to outside nub and its 10 1/4". the sizes i see that are near that are 10 1/8" and i seen one that was 10 3/16..but most are 10 1/8".

if i cant find a cheap set that fits its not that big of a deal...but i think the baby moons would look nice on the ol burb. any input (and help picking the size) is gladly welcome and appreciated

this is pretty much what my wheels and tires will look like..this is c10mang's truck (sorry for the picture jack!)

Re: Baby moon caps..

My wheels are black with the thin red wall. I tried a bunch of different small caps on em and ended up with the baby moons looking best in my eyes.

Its my av pic. Sorry no pics on my panel ... but Im hoping it wont be too long now.

Those wheels in the pics look pretty cool, but on your burb I would go with the baby moon caps I think that would look cool!

Re: Baby moon caps..

Try to find the poverty caps from Chevelles and Novas of this era. They are baby moons with bow ties embossed on them and no accent paint. Very subtle. Personally,I like Chevy car caps more than baby moons.

i think im leaning towards the baby moons. worse case, i can just pop em off and sell em.

would the 10 1/8" be the right size if mine are 10 1/4" (from end of nub to end of nub)?

Re: Baby moon caps..

Hey Kev

Did you ever get those baby moons? Did the 10 1/8 work? Where did you get 'em? I found some on J.C. Witney, along with some stainless steel accent rings... thinkin' of runnin' somethin' like that myself.

Or, some "COPO" caps....'68-69 Camaro, Nova, Chevelle. Here's a pic. I also like the later Nova caps (moons w/logo)...no pic.

Re: Baby moon caps..

^^^ digging those too!

actually, i never ordered either. been concentrating on under the hood and lost track of the wheels! i did get them painted and tires mounted on, just never ordered any caps.

ebay was the cheapest i seen for the baby moons..the spider caps are expensive everywhere!

also i was thinking the 10" caps would take away from the black of the rim..they seem a little big.

Im a fan of thee too. I keep tempting myself to move over to the dark side (the white side maybe? lol) and run a set of blue painted rallys with spider caps and some wide whites on my truck. Until I can borrow a set of a friends to test fit and be sure I like them I wont be dropping the cash on a set, because those tires are EXPENSIVE. I used to think my 20 inch tires were high till I priced a nice set of Silvertowns.
