Turn signal switch

Does anybody know if you can put a 64-66 turn signal switch in a 63 column. I picked up the 63 auto column but need it to go into my 66. Apparently the 63 switch is one year only. Anybody know the difference?

they are different parts numbers - looks like the plastic switch housing is different and might also have a different wiring layout - cant tell by the pictures that they have though

hope it helps
