What engine would I have had?
Im trying to figure our what engine my truck may have come with. It had a powerglide trans at one time. It looks like it may have had two choises. A 235 and 283. Also, besides couning teeth, what were the rear gear options in 61?
Thanks for the help.

Re: What engine would I have had?
If it were a six, it would've probably been the 235, possibly a 261. One way to tell if it were a v8 is by the hood ornament, if it still existed on the truck when you got it. The v8 trucks had a 'v' under the bowtie. If that was the case...it was a 283.
As far as rearend gear, I believe the common ratios are 3.38:1 and 3.90:1. The only factory automatic '62 (same style rearend as 61) I've come across had the 3.38. If your's was factory auto, that may be your ratio.

Re: What engine would I have had?

Re: What engine would I have had?
If the powerglide was the original trans, it would have likely had a 283 and the rare side motor mounts.
