I have a 1970 C10 Truck, gas tank behind the seat and I put a new sending unit in my gas tank, I put a new gas gauge in my dash and I'm getting power to the sending unit but, the gas gauge won't work right. I have the key off and it goes straight down like its suppose to do but the needle wont go past empty. Can somebody help me?

What do you mean by getting power to the sending unit? You should not have any positive voltage going to the tan wire to your sending unit.
Unplug the tan wire on the fuse panel and the gauge should go to the 3:00 position on the gauge with the key on. Take the tan wire off the sender and ground it to the best ground you can find and the gauge should read at or below empty.

If you get movement of the gauge in the direction I stated but it doesn't go all the way then your gauge and sender may not match. The sender should read O to 90 ohms between full and empty. My guess is that you have a poor ground on the sending unit or the gas tank is not grounded well.

Just a thought ..... You've asked for help twice on two different posts, got suggestions then say "you got it". Can you at least tell us what the fix was so you might help someone like yourself solve a problem?

That was rude...... It was a ground wire that I grounded from the back of the gas gauge to the frame and replaced the cluster feed fuse underneath the dash.

So where did you run the wire from on the gauge? From a terminal on the gauge itself or from one of the mounting screws?

Mine seems stuck at the 3 o'clock position.

I got a long piece of wire and put it on the back of my gas gauge that is labeled G for ground. Then I ran the wire through the firewall on to my frame and I found a hole on my frame and got a bolt and washers and nut and wrapped the wire on the bolt and tighten it down. Then I checked my cluster feed fuse that is located under the dash and the cluster feed fuse was busted so I got another one and everything started working.
