FNG w/ 69 stepside from Texas
Finally decided to sign up. Ive been lurking here for a few months now and just now got around to taking some pics of my new truck, and getting them all put up here. Its a 1969 C/10 swb step side. 307 sbc w/ 3 on the tree. It runs and drives great, could be a daily driver. Ive wanted to have some sort of old hot rod my entire life and finally found a deal on my first project. I bought the truck about 2 months ago (just now getting the title ) My short term plans for the truck are to add headers, exhaust, replace all weather seals and tint the windows. I have a 350 that Im going to pull from an old dump truck my dad has, rebuild that and then drop it in the truck (any advice on saving money and building the running 307 vs. rebuilding the 350?) After that ill do a 4/6 drop, wheels, and lord knows what else. Love this site and all that I have learned off of it so far. Hopefully one day this thing will look like some of these awesome trucks I drool over on here every day
Enough w/ the talking and on to the pics! |

First off Welcome to the site! The truck looks great already, so you've got a great starting point.

Welcome Fabulous New Guy (that is what FNG stands for, right... hahaha) from a guy who is about as far Northwest of the Metroplex as you are Southeast, down their in the land of Tall Women and Virgin Pines... or is it Tall Pines and Virgin Women?!?!?!?!? Your truck looks super clean and an excellent start for whatever you want! Congrats!

Welcome. I am in about the same position as you are with just getting my first project as well. I think you have a little better starting point than I do however - that truck looks great. It also sounds like you have a good plan - I am still unsure which way to go with my build. I have a 307 currently, but picked up a 1970 LS9 350 that I will be rebuilding to drop in - unless you want originality the 307 should be tossed. Good Luck and welcome to a great site.

Re: FNG w/ 69 stepside from Texas
Hey,welcome to the site Daddy. That's a sharp little '69. If that 307 runs ok I'd run some nice sounding duals and get started on the rest. The 350 can get built later or over time, but you can get the truck the way you want it sooner. Anything you do to the 307 can go to the 350 later, too. 307s run longer and give mileage 350s can only dream about. You can actually put a Quadrajet on there and get more power and mileage. Find a used HEI ignition for a hotter spark and also help the mpgs. All three things will give you both.

Re: FNG w/ 69 stepside from Texas
72K20 I think you're right about the pines part. hahaha I actually run a zipline course out of those tall pines in my back yard. My website is on my profile part on here.
Thanks for the comments on the truck yall. My plan was to spruce up this 307 and keep the truck on the road while the 350 is being built. That way its never just sitting in the garage where I could lose interest. During that time, ill be doing all of the small touches that will really add alot to the truck. Im just glad to finally have a project. This is a great learning experience for me and soemthing that I have always wanted to do. After buying this truck I have fallen in love with the 67-72's and its funny how many are around me that I never noticed before. |

Re: FNG w/ 69 stepside from Texas
lol no, not much here. Weve got a Baptist church, feed store, and New York, Texas Zipline Adventures. Maybe 45-50 people max. No zip code, just a sign that says New York. As some would say "the sticks" or "BFE".

Sounds like West Falls, where I live. We don't even get a sign except Old West Falls Rd (dirt) and on the church sign. Sounds like another small town in the big state.
