Uh Ohh...Round #2--NOS Hubcaps

Not mine!!! Here is another pair, but there is only two of them. And look, someone can get these very cheap with a buy-it-now. Are these for a 1/2 ton??

They are just part of the hup caps. These are the centers for the full fake lug nut type hubcaps

Those have been on e-bay for quite awhile.

I have seen alot of these caps bolted over the 4x4 caps covering the hole. I think the factory may have done it. Available in cast or plastic.

Re: Uh Ohh...Round #2--NOS Hubcaps

the 69 - 72 'lug nut hub caps' are actually the same as the 67/68 black full covers, just the later ones have the added parts bolted onto the cap.

No one mentioned this, but those e bay pieces are not for 69 - 72. If they were, they'd be blue.

Re: Uh Ohh...Round #2--NOS Hubcaps

Those are actually the centers for "wheelcovers". Hubcaps are what we refer to as dog dish or poverty caps. The seller is listing them for way beyond their years. These are technically 73-75 due to the yellow bowtie. The 67/68 Chevy wheelcover is the same part behind the 69-72s with this type center. The 67/68 GMC wheelcovers had GMC stamped into them.

Re: Uh Ohh...Round #2--NOS Hubcaps

Tim and Andy, you guys are kind of right. I just looked through my covers and none of the 69 and newer have the bowtie or gmc stamped into them. They are basically the same cover. I believe all of the 67-68 caps were stamped and painted. So i have to think because of that, it was a different cap starting in 69. The variations i have seen are quite a few 4x4 covers that still have the lockout hole covered by that cap.
And to mix it up some more, i have an nos center like the ones on e-bay with a hole in it for a lockout... I can add some pics later if this doesn't make sense...

Re: Uh Ohh...Round #2--NOS Hubcaps

Maybe this will help. Notice the 67-68 caps are stamped in the center. The middle nos cap is showing the optional ring for 16" wheels. I am not sure why the other 4x4 cap has a ring stamped in it. Things that make you go hmmm....

That's right. I was thinking for some reason the Chevys were smooth w/o a bowtie. Since when, right? What was I thinking. Chevy always has a bowtie. IT'S THEIR LOGO,after all.
I still think they are exactly the same "except" for the logo being stamped. In other words, someone could put these centers on a 67/68 GMC/Chevy cover (after stripping the paint in the center) and have the same thing. But don't!!! The 67/68s are much harder to come by. I'll trade ya for later covers if that's what you need. (not an offer to deal.Just saying...)
