Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

Although I know that there are under bed tire carrier's and in bed tire mounts for these pick ups, but has anyone ever tried to put a burb interior wheel well in a pickup bed???...Would it even work??....This picture kinda made me think it's possible (it's a custom burb wood area)....thoughts?

Re: Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

I noticed one just the other day and thought it was a nice mod. It was on a long bed and was up near the cab behind the driverside. The tire was below the top rail and looked very discreet. I think it could be a really great mod, just drill out a drain hole for sure.

Re: Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

There was a thread on this a couple years ago with a couple more examples but I can't find it. It was just like jorgensensc describes, in front of the wheel well.

Re: Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

just go to tractor supply and get a generic trailer fender, add some sheet metal to it and use that. Brobably a lot easier than locating and removing one from a 40+ year old burb

Re: Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

I'm thinking it could be secured the same way as a stepside mounted wheel is or even rear mount spare wheels, such as jeeps or other 4x4's. Just a thought.

Re: Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

I always thought this would be a cool idea. I really cant believe I missed the two other threads on this. Just goes to show no matter how much you live on this board you are always going to miss something.

I saved a wheel well off a burb just in case I wanted to try it someday. Hmmm, I wonder if I could make one big enough to hold a 33 12.5 16.5 tire for my K20? Ok thats probably a little too big =)

Plus my panel doesnt have a rear well like the burb, that could be another use for it.

Re: Burb Wheel Well in Pickup bed?

Here is a long shot (kinda hard to see)...

""

Truck is not done yet. The well holds a 33x12.50-15, with about 2" sticking up above the rail. I'll get a shot with the tire for you. I am using a repro factory hold down from LMC to tie it in.

Dont know why its upside down...

Thanks to whom ever turner it over, I'm a computard.

I know it's an old thread but I wanted to do something like this and found this post with the search option.
One question though, is this in front of the wheel well?

Thanks for any reply.

Cya,
Edmond.
