No Limit 63-72 Rear Shock Kit
NO LIMIT ENGINEERING
New Rear Shock Kit to fit 1963-72 Chevy Pickups!! "Quote per Rob" - I'm feelin pretty good about this. After dropping another 2" in back, we ran into the same trouble as everyone else. The shock issues. After researching the other kits, and solutions, and thinking about it, we came up with a plan. Here are some of the problems we noted. 1. No room for a longer shock, even with reworked or 'dropped' mounts. 2. shock angle gets worse, the lower you go. 3. If we go another 2" (8 total) we're screwed again. 4. the exhaust is a nightmare. 5. the inboard shock design doesn't handle that great. With this in mind, we set out for a fix. This is the whole idea behind the JT, to come up with tested components that WORK, and will HELP get more trucks on the road to be enjoyed.

We are also using this forum, and site to set the record straight. I am sure we will be copied. Now there is lasting, dated proof, and those who 'knock-off' will be called out. This kit will come with 2 different length shocks. A 10" stroke shock for the stock to 4" drop guys, and a 8" stroke shock for the 6" to 10" drops. Once the stock shocks and mounts are gone, the new lower mounts are a direct replacement.

The new upper mounts locate to the frame with a factory 5/8" hole. We provede a big bolt to hold and align the new mount. You have to drill the two 3/8" holes.

Then your all but done. Just bolt on the shocks and mount studs, all included.

Looks like a well designed and built product, have always wondered why the lower shock plate hasn't changed in the area circled below. I have seen these lower shock stud holes get wollerd/elongated on the aftermarket pieces also, is there a reason they have stayed the same? Mel

Min scrub is at 8 1/4", so a 17" wheel or bigger is safe, if you are not using a lowering block, then 15" are OK. The upper and lower mounts are 1/4" thick steel, thicker than the stock mounts from GM. All of the rear suspension parts that we are working on will be avail wed. - after we track test, and have proven results.

Edit 03-03-2011: No Limit Engineering: Are you at all concerned about the strength of the shock mounts, especially the lower one? The factory mount captures the shock bolts on both sides of the shock. Your design cantilevers the bolts. While the upper mount looks quite strong the lower looks like it may be a problem, long term, for folks that use their trucks for hauling and towing where shock loads are significant. Perhaps some additional gussets on the lower mount would be advantagous? Quote:

John, the '67-'72 trucks use a similar lower shock mount with the lower end of the shock in single shear. I agree that a bracket providing double shear would be better.
This shock relocation kit appears to mimick the '60-'62's. Those years had both shocks mounted to the rear, much the same as this kit.

The only issue I can see with this, is if someone (like myself) who is running a rear mount fuel tank. Without dropping the tank, those upper mounts aren't easily accessible.

I just ordered this shock kit for my 72 with a 6" drop. No limit said to call back to order the shocks after parts are installed for correct measurement. I need to do this all at one time, anyone done a 6" drop setup and what shock did you use?

Don't know about the 6" drop but I have been running this kit for 3/4 years now and it's awesome!

I know this sounds odd, but some of it has to do with how the drop is done. Block or spring, and, is it would be, all springs are not created equal. So, we could guess, and get it right 80% of the time, or, we could do this in a two step process, and get it right 100% of the time.

Mine has un know 4" springs in back and 3" up front. I have helper air bags in all 4 of them. Between the shocks and the helper bags my truck rides as good as any new truck out there.
I have a 08 Tahoe all factory a 11 Terverse all factory and I'll drive my truck anytime over either one of those weather permitting. No I do not have the measurement on the shocks but they are the blue shocks that Rob offered in the kit when I bought it.
