Anyone running a 73-87 frame on your 67-72?
My first truck at age 15 (a LONG time ago!) was a 67 CST big window short fleet 4x4 with a 396 big block and a 4 speed. The truck was built on a stretched 77 Blazer frame and looked very stock to me at the time. Anyone else on here rinning a 73-87 frame... 2 or 4 wheel drive on your 67-72?

Here's my brother in laws truck on a 73 frame. He started with two 2wd 67-72's, and wanted a 4x4 and just happened to come across a 73 4x4 available for cheep..

Here is mine its sitting on a 1991 surburban frame same as a 73-87 but we shortened it three foot we used the surburban mounts just modified them and repositioned them

Thats a couple tuff looking rigs! I know the frames must be very close since alot of early model 2wd. guys use the 73 and up front crossmembers for the 5 lug and disc brakes. I'm curious to know if you had to move the cab mounts around any or did they bolt right up. I think the 73 & up rear frame area has a small kick up compared to the the early trucks. I know you would need to use the 67-72 frame horns to simplify mounting the bumpers. What else?

I was wondering if the cab mounts would line up as well, because around here its a whole lot easier to find a 73-87 4wd frame.

there is no way the cab mounts line up if you look at the picture with the lbw Chevy before mine the radiator support is way off this is no bolt up procedure you have to make every mount and make sure you get them perfectly square.

We did this to my friends truck in high school. We put a 71 body on a 78 GMC 4x4 frame. I remember that we were able to use the front cab mounts but the bolts were at a slight angle outwards. We added a cross member under the rear of the cab and drilled holes in it. We also made some kind of bracket for the front, but we werent real professional back then. We also left a larger gap between the cab and bed and the frame still stuck out from the box. He drove it for a long time like that, but it didnt look quite right.

doing a 2 wheel drive wont work on a 73 - 87 framr due to teh frame kicking up under the cab
