Question Engine Temp wire color?

Ok, we have newer 350 in the truck and we want to wire the temperature sensor but cant fine the wire. I have looked behind the gauges but as you know they are all on a circut board which all the wires come off in a bundle. I cant tell which one goes to the temperature gage. Anyone know the color of it or how i can identify it? Thanks.

Great. Thanks. Now to find that green wire. All the wires were pulled back into the truck so hopefully i can find it under there.

Anyone else find other color wire, or is green pretty much the standard for our trucks?

Mine's green. It connects to the firewall connector in the engine compartment...

Re: Engine Temp wire color?

It's a 20gauge dark green wire and it runs from the left cylinder head sender to the firewall connector to the key switch and then to the cluster plug for clusters that have idiot lights.

If it is a seven gauge cluster then the wire goes through the firewall connector and bypasses the ignition switch and goes directly to the cluster plug.

It goes into terminal six on the gauge cluster plug and into terminal five on the idiot light cluster plug.

Re: Engine Temp wire color?

this is all assuming you are working on a 67 - 72... since you never mentioned what you have.
Make sure you don't grab the horn wire, it's green too.

Thanks. I can always count on members of this forum to know the details. You couldnt have laid this out for me better. With this info I found it. I followed your instructions backwards from the cluster forward and found it coiled up and tucked up under the inner fender. It was hidden out of the way and out of site when the engine swap was done.

Woooo Hoooo!
