Re: building my first lowered truck

well here is this weeks update. didnt get alot done, helped a buddy of mine and went to a FFF meeting. im petitioning to join and so far so good i think.

well on friday afternoon i built a buddy a test pipe to replace his cat that he dragged a hole through. i cut off the cat's flanges and the rest is obvious.

then for the majority of the rest of the weekend i built myself a tranny crossmember. bolts to existing holes. nothing lined up and holes in the frame were different from one side to the other. its just temporary until i 'Z' the frame or buy a dropmember. i did go to town on it tho with my new flap disc. im really unsatisfied with the end product for the amount of time it took.

then i spent about 2 hours trying to figure out why i kept frying a compressor relay. after going over all of my wiring it ended up being the check valve in the leader hose. it was plugged and wasnt letting air go in either direction. im amazed that the compressor didnt blow up or anything horrific. so a new leader hose is on the To Buy List. good thing is that i was really unsatisfied with how slow the compressors were but now that i know it will be twice as fast im happy.

also talked to Nate from Porterbuilt this past week to see what headers he recommends so i would for sure have the correct fitting headers the first place. ordered those, two 45* bends, reducers and a 7.5' piece of exhaust tubing from summit. the headers and reducers showed up on friday.

wondering if this is the proper assemble for the reducers to the headers

also picked up 2 switches and another relay from autozone. 1 switch for compressors, 1 for my alternator since i need a diode but the closest radio shack isnt worth the drive.

still need to get a 'momentary on-off-momentary on' switch for the door poppers so i dont have to reach over to open the passenger door. also picked up 2 more lug nuts (all auto zone had) the last 11 i need are supposed to be there tomorrow and im still waiting on my tie rod ends to come in.

started brain storming ideas for upper shock mounts and came up with a great idea. it will complement the bridge design and be double sheared. idk what ill mess with next weekend, probably build the exhaust but who knows.

Re: building my first lowered truck

well my last parts of the exhaust puzzle finished showing up today. 2 45* elbows and a 7.5' stick of 2.5" tube. hopefully everything i need to build the exhaust other then the hangers. i plan of doing that this weekend since im not going to the arizona show and shine.

Re: building my first lowered truck

well i doubt ill get help here but doesnt hurt to try. im having a starting problem with my intergra. happened 3 times since ive got the car, once yesterday and twice today. i go to start it and i turn the key to start and the starter doesnt do anything. i can hear the relays click so i know the switch works i think. what should i check next?

also got the tie rod ends today.

Re: building my first lowered truck

test the power at the solenoid when someone turns the key. If you have power, replace the solenoid. In your honda case it would be easier, but not cheaper to replace the starter. it should come with a new solenoid.

Re: building my first lowered truck

The solenoid can work intermittently, sometimes they will work when cold, but not hot. Also, try taping on your starter while someone holds the key over. If this makes the car start, replace the starter.

Re: building my first lowered truck

well here is the update.

first i got the tie rods in

then the booster in

turns lock to lock laid out

here is the problem

well neither brake line attaches to the prop valve, both are too big. idk if its because c20 runs larger lines or because of it having drum brakes originally. basically where im at is if i have to redo ALL the brake lines i dont want to do them twice. which means that im going to tear down the truck and Z it and body drop it. and if im going to do all that im going to convert it too either 5 or 6 lug. id rather do it right the first time and not have to build brake lines and exhaust twice.

on to another situation. i might trade my Acura for this. its my buddies toyota. its body dropped on 19". problems with it include no interior and its a gross polluter. if we get the smog situation figured out ill probably end up trading him

might want to change that so you don't get yourself in trouble (don't ask me how i know) or get your thread locked or both, just an fyi but you have to be a paying/suppoting member to sell stuff on here, so you might want to just keep it posted on the other c10 forum.

Re: building my first lowered truck

cool build!
what size rims and tires are you running on your truck? i noticed they are 8 lug 3/4 ton? i wasnt aware you could buy lower profile tires for 16.5" rims but im new to this 8 lug game.
thanks
