nope, nothing unique about rams horns. every truck had them untill 1972 and pass cars untill i think 1968. vettes had a 2 1/2 inch version but they are straight down.

Stocker, you are correct but your 72 K20 has 2" outlets. The older Vettes had 2 1/2 ".
I have a set of the 2 1/2 inch ground and ready to go. A 64% increase over the 2".

Sgt jed--Ramhorns
Hey Jed,
Did you say all trucks thru 72 have em? I have a c-10 307 with them (ramhorns) and a cheyenne 350 with out them? both are 72's. Are you sure they all had ramhorns , I thinkboth motors are original. Can you clarify? Thanks Jeff

All small block equipped trucks had them.
I'm not sure about big block, but ALL small blocks did. The ram horn manifolds are kinda special...they out flow any other stock manifold by quite a bit. Plenty of people who are sick of header leaks, and collectors hitting speed bumps and people with sleeper street racers love them becouse they flow so much better than the 'log' manifolds. |

How much better do ramhorns really flow than regular manifolds.
I have a 69 c-10 with the factory ram horns going into 2.5 inch dual exhaust. The exhaust is brand new.I am getting ready to do an engine swap in a couple weeks.I figure now would be perfect time to add headers.Except I don't want to cut my new exhaust up. I was thinking about going with heddmann's with 1 5/8 primary's.Does anyone know if they are eqaul lenght? And would I notice a big difference with headers? Thanks.

I was with Zoomy, Class of 69, Teeitup at Randys last Saturday. Mitch bought a truck with a factory big block. As no big blocks were put into 4x4's, the exhaust manifolds are 2wd and dump at the firewall, all the way to the rear. No center dump. There may be some but I have not seen big block center dump.

If you get a pair of full length headers designed for your truck, you should be able to just cut your new pipes where your headers end, then take it to the muffler shop to get the pipes welded to the collectors. I put headers in place of my ramshorns a while back....it gave me a little more power, but it made the truck sound about twice as good

Thanks for the info.I might try and find some corvette ram horns.Everyone that looks underneath the hood of my truck.Says something about those crappy stock manifolds. So if there not that crappy I am going to leave them.
I have decided against putting my 408 in the truck.First of all it wold be a major gas hog.And second of all I wanna build that and put it in something alot lighter.(like an s-10 or something.)
