Diesel to gas conversion help
Hello,
I have a 1983 chevy 3500 dually, it had a blown diesel motor when I got it. I just bought a chevy 350 gas motor to put in it. I'm using the original 4 speed tranny. I done some searches but I was hoping you guy's could save me some trouble by letting me know what surprizes I might encounter. I've swaped a lot of motors but never done this conversion. Will the power steering pump from the gas motor work? I've heard I need to change the motor mounts? I plan on using the diesel radiator. The truck came with a 77 gallon fuel tank in the bed so I'm going to replace it with a smaller tank. What about the wiring? Any thing you guy's can advise me on would be great. Thanks, Mel |

Re: Diesel to gas conversion help
I used the same motor mounts cause they were still new when i changed mine over. I got a gas wiring harness and swaped it in because the other one was hacked up. when i did my gas swap i also put in a 4 speed manual in and wires got miss placed when i added the clutch pedal assembly. if id do it again id label all the wires. i got rid of the hydro boost brake set up and vent to vac booster, dont like the idea of throwing a belt and having no brakes. good luck
