Well- It's official finally!

Friday night, I bought a 1989 crew cab dually in Chesnee SC. It was 9:00 at night, we were loading it on my friends trailer. We then headed to Commerce GA for the hotel we planned to stay at...and had a scary incident about 15 mles from Commerce. so after a good nights rest...we unloaded the Dually- and I drove it the rest of the way home yesterday.

It's a 89, 454/400, blue cloth(with all the wood, like it was a choo choo or something), working a/c and heat, power windows/locks(a couple of windows are slow), cruise(not working). Black piant over an originally a dark blue truck. had four new tires out back- fronts are ok for now.

I don't know what gear it came with, or is in it now, but at 70mph, it reads about 83-85 on the dash....this is at 3300 rpm too!!! wow! I was concerned at some skipping it was doing on the interstate...but it cleared up as I drove...I'll be picking you guys' brains for alot of stuff I am sure.

all in all....for 3200 bucks, I think I done OK for a fairly rust free truck.

Pics coming later...going back to bed now.LOL

Planning....already started...campershell is on the ground.

I have a question though. Look back at the inside pics- the plastic trim pieces are of white/cream colored- I am guessing they replaced the originals with these? I am going to pull them and paint them blue to match. though I have considered changing the interior to red/burgandy. M(y favorite+ then I could do red/black on the exterior instead of blue.)

As for the the 'demodding'....camper- of already, running boards, grab handles, and giant mirrors will be hitting the scrap pile/ craigslist ads very soon.

this afternoons pics...better already:

Re: Well- It's official finally!

Talk about heavy duty bumper...and the hitch has a bead welded across the mounts, and welded to the bumper. Gonna be fun cutting all the crap off.LOL

But that'll the right before the bags come, hopefully next income tax season.

Re: Well- It's official finally!

Ran some seafoam fuel treatment through it...It seems to be studdering once in a while. Prolly gonna do plugs/wires/cap on it if I get time tomorrow. Then have a machanic friend of mine come check the timing. at hwy speeds it still gives a buck every once in a while, like it is back firing almost. I had sort of chalked up to bad gas, or being carboned up. Not sure now.

It runs OK now- looking forward to having purring like a kitten.

Re: Well- It's official finally!

Went to town today and got plugs/wires/new cap, as well as a 3 1/4 drop hitch with a 2" ball for the hitch. Couldn't help but hook up the ole trailer and hot rod. Sorry for the crappy cell picture, will get better ones tomorrow. I took the rig around the block(a rural block that is). Drives great- hardly notice the car is back there, other than the slowed acceleration, and it definately made the 'missing' more pronounced. Will change the plugs/wires tomorrow.
