Re: Exhaust size 67 C10?

I've learned that 2.5 inch exhaust works best for small blocks due to back pressure reasons yet they also sound good. Any bigger I've heard to use for big blocks.

good to know! kind of related....is there a web page where you can hear what different mufflers sound like? Don't mean to hijack your thread...but i have no exhaust yet, and so this will be useful for me!

Re: Exhaust size 67 C10?

for stock to mild sbc's 2.5 is perfect. anything bigger any you loose low end torque and power. for really hopped up sbc's, turbo'd, or supercharged motors the bigger the better.

Re: Exhaust size 67 C10?

Just curious if you plan to use the stock manifolds? I think they are 2" or 2 1/4' outlet? Can you use a 2 1/2 pipe with the stock manifolds?

Re: Exhaust size 67 C10?

yes, but you will either need to get the step-up from a parts store or have the exhaust shop flare the pipe for you

Re: Exhaust size 67 C10?

in that case then the collectors that come with the headers should be for 2.5" exhaust systems

Re: Exhaust size 67 C10?

Get the manifolds from a vette (1962 i believe). I just ordered mine for $120 new. They re 2.5 made by Dorman. Way cheaper than good headers and supposed to be a good performance upgrade.
