Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

I have a SOFTOPPER on my K/5 with the 17 snap header bar. I am going to have my local upholstery shop (Nacho's) make me a Bikini Top that utilizes the 17 snaps. If any of you with Softoppers are interested in having one done let me know. Perhaps making a few at a time using the same pattern might be worth a discount. I'm not sure if the older top companies use the same 17 snap pattern. I'm taking my truck in in a couple weeks so lemme know if you're interested.

can you post up a pic of your header snaps, I just bought a soft topper and trying to figure out where exactly to mount it. The instructions leave alot to be desired.

Truck is in the shop for a couple weeks...I can do when I get it back.

Couple notes... 1. Follow instructions when they say to drill outside holes last as the fit of the top needs to be tight. You really have to bend and form to fit the ends snug. I used a couple extra drill-snaps going from 5 to 7 to fix a bit of lifting...but all good now. 2. You will run the rubber seal behind the header bar so allow room for the two.

Re: Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

I stole this picture, But do I install it in the 1 or 2 position, the directions say to install in the 2 position above the 1/8" above the windshield rubber. I do not have a windshield in mine at the moment, but it does not look like it will physically fit there without going into the gasket flange for the windshield.

By the looks of the picture you definitely install in the #1 position.

Re: Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

Dragging out an old thread... Looks like the picture from softtopper shows a 73-75 K5 windsheild...

They might have to do a little more homework on their instructions.

Re: Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

Hey Guys,
We're getting ready to buy the softtopper for a 72 Blazer as well. I remember that when I had my 72 and had the Bestop on it, the door rails fit into mounted round sleeves. We're informed that to take off the door rails for the sorttopper, you gotta unscrew the rails, is this true? On the above picture, it looks like the hardware is there similar to the Bestop setup. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks,
Vito

Re: Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

I was lucky enough to pick up a softopper for my 70 off Craigslist for $350!

Softopper still hasn't fixed their instructions... Same picture... You'd think since they are getting $900 a pop new they'd give us some better instructions.

Re: Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

I just put a softopper on mine. I might be interested. As far as the installation. The instructions show the 2nd gen windshield header photo. If you go to the website you can find pics of a black 1st gen that has a good header photo.

Re: Bikini Top For SOFTOPPER Owners

Also be careful installing the snaps with the self tapping screws. The ones i have are so cheap they strip out. I actually pre drilled the holes and then ran a regular self tapping screw through it first.
