Well got to play more today. Changed my main jets to 69 from factory 65s. Made huge differance. O2 gauge stays above 16:1 even in overdrive. No more shaking when i throttle in to it. Will check plugs tomorrow. But seems to be right on.

16 to 1 or higher is too lean for a carbureted system. Try to get it closer to 14.7 to 1.

You will create too much heat and start to damage your engine if you maintain 16 to 1 or higher on a sustained trip of more than a couple minutes constant cruise at that ratio.

It won't take long at all to burn a hole in a piston or burn a valve running that lean with no transitions into richer mixtures to cool things off.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Hold on fellas i am trying to fatten it up. With the 65 jets that came with it the O2 would take a nose dive to over 18:1. Now with the 69 jets it only hits 16:1. It is around 14.5 to 15 going down hiway. Gas milage has went to hell for some reason. Maybe i need to recheck my idle mixture. First few days of this tank went great then when it got to 3/4 tank thusrday it just plumited tell today. Drove like semi normal person except for a few moments when foot "sliped" and made pedle go smooth to floor.....Whoops. I am kind of on the edge about going to 70 or 71 jets. I want to receve some kind of mpgs but still not kill my motor. I checked my plugs today. Was going 2000 rpm in 4th with converter unlocked and help steady pace for a while and then shut truck off whale holding pedle at some position and coasted to a stop and pulled plug. This is the #1 plug the same one that few weeks ago was covered in burned oil. Still lean. But has massive gas smell at idle. Think i will recheak mix at lunch tuesday.

They hit everything within 5 foot radius of the engine. They hit trans, and shakle on the passenger side and on the driver they hit the shackle and that was it i thought tell i tryed to put trans in N to push it back and clean under it and could not shift. If it was 2wd with shifter on the trans tunnel it would problely work out fine.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

last weekend i saw an 85 c10 with ls1 camaro pacesetter headers, they fit good without any problems, only the driverside collector was cut and welded at an angle to not hit the frame. so if these ebay headers are similar to pacesetter they should they work. im looking for some headers that wont cost an arm & a leg. you think they would work on my 82 c10? just spent 40 minutes reading your thread good job with it.

It is a one legger right now. My friend had this eaton true trac sitting around and wanted to sell it. For only 300 i got brand new true trac and master install kit. Could not pass it up. I think mine i have in now may be going bad. If i stop then try to start out again something binds up then popps and then goes nicely. My dad had same problem and it was his diff. I redone the rear brakes and it did not change anything. It has done it for a while now. Even befor the new trans. So that leaves t case or diff.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I HATE TOYOTAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The wifes yota costs more then my dang burb to keep running. Her breaks were squeiking so i took the wheels off one buy one with gas lug wrench that came with the car. Needs rear pads and rotors, front pads rotors and both front axle shafts, driver side wheel bearing. Of course it has pressed on wheel bearings, and needs alignment when you do any of the major work so it is not worth doing your self due to how bad the alignment will be off for the drive to the shop. I am just going to buy her an old truck so i can do almost everything myself. Sorry just so pissed off at how work went today then find out car needs grand worth of work. Money that i was going to use to for the burb now has to go to gay yota that has massive jelousy problem!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well not a hole lot going on any more. I put my new steering box in yesterday and shipped my rented jets back. Not happy with the jetting but not really sure what i need to do so i wont do anything. I need to call holley and talk with one of there techs i guess. Still running stronge with no smoke or drips or consumption of any kind. My next oil change i will have my oil analyesed cause we got a oil analyser thing at work now. Still need to get my front breaks and put them on. Slaking on that big time.

Have you run a laptop hooked to your MSD while running? After a bunch of head scratcing I finally did...and noticed the 6LS-2 adds whatever timing shows in the MAP's table...even though no MAP sensor is connected. With 0* base and 4* at 1k (per one of their pre-programmed chips with 20* in the MAP table for low vacuum).... you'd have nearly 24* of timing at idle.

Yes i have even driven around with it hooked up. The chips have tons of timing put in them. I dont know what they should be set on to run the best but mine runs ok with 2 in it i think. Not really sure what timing i need on my motor would like to play with it but i not sure i would set it right. Have no played with it much. Could that be part of my mpg problem?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well as it truns out i need new floor mats. Today after work i parked truck in front of my work to let it warm up a bit and i backed out of my spot and put in drive and punched it. Spun tire for like 25 feet the decided it was time to let out of it so i took foot off pedle and that is all that happend my pedle stayed on the floor and we just kept on accelerating. (not the first time this has happend the first time it happend i had two coworkers in it and the one i the back seat was screaming like little girl....I was laughing so hard i could bearly reach down and pull pedle off the floormat) The guy out side was almost on ground cause he seen the hole thing and was laughing so hard. So i shut it off and skidded to stop and ajusted my mat and reversed over to him. We were both in pain due to the laughing. Was the funniest thing that has happend in a while. Any way made good end to a crappy day at work. So i am in the market for new floor mat now..........

I should call chevy and expaline this to them...Then they would put out a recall and save millions of lives........... Will put that on list of stuff to do monday. I will set burb aside and drive my wifes avalon tell they get the recall put out.

They did not find any thing wronge with any of the cars they recalled....... Smells like massive scam. All started out buy some hoople head getting pulled over and told cop oh i was trying to slow down....... Pedle was stuck...... Can you tow it to toyota for me..... Sure it was somthing like that. The best one was the guy with a pruis that was getting chased buy cops and the car overpowered the breaks..... Ya right............. I have yet to see one that can get to speed limit within a mile.
