spring hanger question from a newb
first off i just wanna say hi to everyone. HI. i've recently picked up a '71 chevy k10 and noticed (after i got it home of course) that the front of the rear spring hanger has some cancer on it. i know the hangers aren't made anymore but was wondering if there are any hangers from other years or makes that would work. i have some welding skills but wanted to get a whole assembly if possible. i'll try to get some pics this evening of the bracket. i haven't been able to find a bracket like the ones i have on my truck. all of the 4x4 hangers that i have found pics of have the leaves positioned just barely below the frame rails and my brackets have the leaves positioned about 6 inches below the frame. has anyone ever seen that before. just curious about my options for leaf hangers on these trucks. thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forum bigcountryboy. We do have some 4wd guys that drop in the Suspension Forum, but its mostly 2wd topics. I am going to move your post to the 4wd forum in hopes you get a quicker response.

Re: spring hanger question from a newb
This probably isn't that much help but I was looking for a set too. I found that they are kinda hard to find, the only way I could get a set was from pulling them off another frame at the junk yard. I would recommend pulling them off, sand blasting them and then reinforce them if there not to badly rusted away.

Not sure if these are still for sale or not but at least the pics should give you an idea if they are the same as what you have. These pop up on the Parts Forum from time to time so keep an eye out...or subscribe to the board and do a parts wanted thread.

Re: spring hanger question from a newb
thanks guys. i'll have to look at my front of rear hangers again. from memory mine seem different. i do have a frankenstein truck as it was originally a 2wd, 6 cylinder according to the VIN. it also has a newer motor i believe because it's HEI and the head castings are 74-80 model years. i will definately contact vintage chevy trucks though and see what they have. again thanks for your responses
