16.5" rims question...............

Here is my recent purchase........

I'm in this one just over $1600 and though it needs some loving,I'm very pleased.

I didn't argue with the seller, but he claims these are 16.5" split rims........

Yes, they are 16.5" rims.......but the split type ?

Re: 16.5" rims question...............

Thanks.......

Tired of trolloing and drooling over all the nice rides around here.

I'll get more pics. as we go.

Its got a 327 and powerglide.......my big brother is the motorhead in our family.
He also said those were not the split type wheels and there were a few lil' things the seller didn't disclosed, that at first I thought I may have messed up about giving anywhere near $1500 for........but Big bro, says I did good.

Re: 16.5" rims question...............

No they are not and you are real lucky that they are not. Most tire stores (at least in the West) won't allow a split rim in the shop anymore. One of the local chains will fire an employee on the spot if they take a split rim in for a tire repair. Some will scoff but that is company policy now because of the number of accidents and close calls with them. I lost a friend and the guy I bought tires an wheels from about 37 years or so ago because he got careless and a split rim took the top of his head off when he was leaning over it airing it up.
This is my truck when it had 16.6 split rims on it.
You can see the steel band just inside the rim if you look close.
