'79 dual tanks

I'm trying to get the dual tank set-up working on my '79 K20, I dropped the the passenger side and found it had been pretty massively re-engineered due to rust. If you have some pics of what it's supposed to look like on that side--maybe you took some during a resto or something--I'd love to see them. Thanks

You've pretty much got it. The strap that is loose is original; it looks like someone "fixed" the other side with some plumber's strap or something similar. The 3 holes on the solid strap were rivets once upon a time.

I forgot to mention that the other side is screwed up too, so I don't really have a reference.

So the rivets attached to what, exactly? I can see the bottom of the bracket rotted out, the stud that the plumbers strap attaches to is gone. Did the riveted part attach to that stud as well and then go up and over like the other side?

There is a threaded rod that rivets to the strap, then goes through the bracket, and is held by a nut on the other side of the bracket. The second picture you posted looks right, but teh strap should be solid (no holes in it).

Here is a link with new parts for reference of what they should look like. I was shopping for some for my truck. I just found a busted frame bracket for my left side tank.

The picture definitely helps. Seems easier to get a new one than to try to weld up the one I have. But I can't tell from the picture if the reproduction bracket has the welded nuts on it. I assume it does, but it would be a serious pain to put it on without them.
