Re: Stock Rims?
Funny you should ask. This is a look I REALLY like! As a matter of fact, I finally found 4 steelies and 4 very nice original dog dish hubcaps for my 71 GMC 4x4 after a long search. I dropped the wheels off at the powder coater yesterday morning. They'll be painted white when they're done, in about a week. I can't wait to get it all finished. If you already have the wheels and caps, I would go for it.

I'm partial to the stock wheel/cap look myself.

I guess I don't have any close-up shots of the wheels. This is the best I could do right now. Stock wheels with 76ish hubcaps. I'm afraid that if I put my '72 stock set of 4x4 caps on somebody might liberate them for themselves.

Re: Stock Rims?
stock lookin wheels here too. I hope to cover them with moon disks one day, but either bare or stock hubcaps with later model trim rings is how my one ton has rolled since I got it on the road in 05

Re: Stock Rims?
I totally agree with some of the guys that have posted on this thread. Stock wheels are the way to go. Here is my '71, with not so stock tires. I have the stock hubcaps ready to go. I just have to finish the rest of the Suburban...then it'll go back to stock height and tires.

Re: Stock Rims?
I prefer the stock wheels as well.
I run 1969 vintage 16.5's right now, but want to get 16's and different tires someday soon. I still have my original split rims, and crazy as it sounds - if they were still legal to run, I'd be running them right now for the pure originality of them. Been thinking when I get the 16's, I'd have them PC'd and have a pin stripper work on them to have the look of a split rim.

Re: Stock Rims?
On the 72 with the camper I run the stock 16's with the lock ring in the front and 9.75X16.5 KH wheels in the back.

Frikin love it! Well, if I can find a shop that is one notch above a frikin jiffy stop franchise to work on my splits I'd be all over it. Interesting comments though, you guys have renewed my interest in getting my original wheels back on.
