Mechanical Parking Brake Caliper

Has any one used the Willwood mechanical parking brake setup on a truck or heavy vehicle before? I'm in the process of making some brake caliper brackets for a 14 bolt to go under my truck and I was just wondering about mechanical calipers and if they are any good. I am looking for some that will work with a 1.54" thick rotor and that would help hold a 3/4 ton truck and trailer on occasion. It seems that the Wilwoods are a two piece design and spacers can be made to accommodate thicker rotors.

Or if you guys have other suggestions on a mechanical parking brake setupp that would work please chime in.

This is my setup. I think it might be alittle on the weak side for what you are building.There is not alot of surface area on the pads.I run a manual trans and if it's on a slope I get kinda antsy.

Hezie, That's a good looking setup that you have there. I wish mine could turn out looking as good as that when I'm done.

Do you think it's the pads not having enough surface area, or is there not enough pressure being applied on the rotor?

Thanks,I wish it had more area it would make me feel alot better,but I also have not reall stood on the pedal.What kind of transmission?That is also the same caliper that ditch witch uses but oddly enough I think it's cheaper from Wilwood.

The truck has an automatic with parking prawl, having a working parking brake helps solve problems like not being able to shift out of park at the boat ramp, and other situations on steep grades with trailers. I guess it wouldn't hurt get one to play with for now and see how it can be improved. I don't know if I should even think about the price, since two of them would cost more than all four of my F550 calipers and rotors
