68 3/4 ton posi rear differential maxi tract R axle
Anyone think I would have any issues swapping this out with my current 12 bolt on my 72 3/4 ton c10?
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=450950 Looks like a good deal, but want to make sure I can use it before I commit to buy it. Thanks for the help. |

Re: 68 3/4 ton posi rear differential maxi tract R axle
C10 is a half ton
12 bolt is a half ton axle That axle is a Dana 60, and it should bolt into your half ton truck but it is 8 lug, not 6 lug like your 12 bolt.

Re: 68 3/4 ton posi rear differential maxi tract R axle
What do you actually have? If you have a coil spring truck then that rear will work, but you will have an 8-lug rear. Are you saying you have a '72 C/10 with 3/4t springs? In that case you have 5-lug wheels, right? If you have a C/20,which is a 3/4t truck, this axle is just for you.

Re: 68 3/4 ton posi rear differential maxi tract R axle
It is a C10 with coil springs, and I was told from the previous owner he put in 3/4 springs in. He was hauling trailers around with it.
Yeah, the wheels are 5x5. Any disadvantages of running a 3/4 axle on a 1/2 ton truck besides having to get new wheels, and probably new brakes? Posi would be nice, but want to make sure I am going in the right direction. |
