Dash Dilemma !!

I’m looking for suggestions on ways to repair this butcher job done on my dash. I believe it originally had a CB radio instead of an ashtray. TPO removed CB & cut out for a Radio which was in it when I got it.
I’m thinking I should do it right, complete dash replacement. (Not in budget though)
Any ideas…

Head to the salvage yard and have them cut out the center section and graft it in. It will take some time but can be done.

Bent blazer is right...just need a center piece....teeitup has them for 15 bucks + shipping....

You can tell by where teeitup has the pieces cut where they need to be welded back: above and below dash bezel along slots under dash pad above and below glove box, less likely to see repairs in those areas, hope that helps

OK when you said graft I thought that was some other way to attach piece besides welding.. Thanks looks like it's the right way to go & not too difficult to match up.

This is my first restore lot to learn on this one...I love this site always great info..

Im doing my first restore as well...this site is better than the encyclopedia...this site also is a good for motivation too... Hit a brick wall and come to the site ..search whats stumping you and get pages and pages on how to fix it

Couple options in front of you, it all depends on the end results your looking for.

Hey vtblazer thanks for the input. I actually considered the off-road version but I was going to use diamond plate and cut out for the radio. I was thinking off making some door panels out of diamond plate as well and it might look cool. Silver paint with black diamond plate. What was that cut out piece? Can it be bought or did you cut it from a donor ? Cuts look clean

But my ash try is toast also and that only cathes the radio

Well which ever way you choose to go, just know that if you go for the 'entire' dash swap, even though it looks like an easy way to go...it is not.

There are a series of spot welds on either side that will need to be removed and they are tough to get to and tough to remove cleanly enough to keep everything intact in order reuse the dash your hoping to install.

By no means impossible, just giving you fair warning.

I think if I were to do it again, I'd do the cut in the middle and weld as laid out in an above post, it's the least invasive and quickest IMO.

I still have the green dodnor dash I used for my own mock up if you can't find anything close to you.
