jaguar in a TF?

anyone here done or know of someone putting jaguar suspension in a TF truck? thanks.

i just sold mine to some guys that do alot of that in a town 20 miles from mine. they say it's pretty easy. i just had a complete free Camaro sub frame so i went that way. alot more knowledge and info on this conversion. they said the hard part was getting someone to build new brake lines for it. alot of people were not willing to deal with a "brake issue" if something went bad. i guess the truck is normal size line and fittings, and the jag is all metric? so they had a company in Portland OR. build them some. he also smiled and said with a grin "let me know how that turns out" when i told him i was running a big block. i guess the steering and exhaust were pretty tight with his small block. the nice thing is you don't have to cut off the front of the frame. just notch the bottom outside edge of the frame to fit it to the jag clip.

Probably on the list of top three easiest swaps. I did this conversion about a year ago on a 55. I have another front suspension that im planning on using on my 50. I will see if I have any pictures. Sean

I cant help with the conversion info,but I do know it's a worthwhile swap.

My buddy had a '56 TF on Jag gear a few years back,it drove real nice.

reason for asking is i have done the camaro clip, the a-body gm and thought "why not jaguar"? as for the metric brake line issue i would think simply using standard size line and find fitting that goes to metric. the wheel studs are SAE 1/2 like the fords use but GM bolt circle. guess i better find out where to find some line adaptors. BarnFind some pictures would be great! looks like the stock lines were 1/4" or 3/16" and the jaguar is 10mm so i think finding some adaptors might be easy.

You should be able to find metric flair to pipe fittings plus a pipe coupler and a standard flair to pipe fitting.

A guy might be able to get away with one on the front brake system and one on the rear brake system.

Right around where I live the Jags aren't very cheap yet so I haven't looked into it but I might have to for a project that I am putting together to sell.

well a 79 jag just showed up in my driveway so now i need to unbolt the front end and rob a few parts before it gets sent to the shredder.

No need to do all that work removing the rear end from the car. Just spray some rust remover on the body. The only thing that will be left the next day is the rear end. Rinse it off and install it in your truck.

I've been wondering if anyone on here was using the Jag IFS.
Are you going to use the factory Jag mounts or mount it directly to the frame?

probably go with adapting the jag mounts to the TF frame and if that seems like it won't work making mounts will be the next idea and going directly to the frame. next will be the rear suspension as this won't be hauling much and why not be in comfort.

Mac I had a couple somwhere and I can't find them now. One was a good pic of a Jag frt end on a 59' suburban. I haven't started on mine yet, (however as I may be laid off soon due to sequestatrion cuts I may get some time to work on it. ) if you have read up on the jag installs (the HAMB and OZZRODDERS are good places) you quickly find out that you can use the factory jag rubber mounts, or weld it in. Being that the narrowest point on the jag ifs is about 33" ( the rear of the crossmember) it requires some trimming of the of the cross member and some notching of the frame rails of a TF truck, since they are 34" wide. I plan on hard mounting mine as I am not too concerned about the ride stiffness. I want it low, and as far as I know there are no drop spindles available for these cars.

This truck has a Jag IFS. I can't tell you much about it, the owner was a complete butthead and very arrogant. I did not want to engage in a conversation with him after I asked a couple of questions, but at least you can see how it sits.

Don't you hate that, buttheads are a worldwide phenomenon, being summer its car show season here in Australia & I came across one last weekend

I love cars and dogs but people come with too much ego. I asked the guy a question and he starting attacking my craftsmanship without even seeing it. I told him I've installed GM Clips, and most of the aftermarket kits but I've never done a jags. This fool tells me that no other clips can be done right because he has a jig and he and a couple of other people are the only ones that can get the jig he has.lol Then he got his boys to start cheerleadering for him telling me how great he is. I said oh yeah that's really great that you are the only one in California that can install a clip correctly and I just walked away.lol What a butthead.

I sure do. I don't understand why people need to so arrogant. They want to tell people what to do with their rides how billet sucks, how stocked is great, or modified is great, man its all beyond me. Just answer the question and leave your personal taste out of it unless I asked. I like any style that is done nicely.
