Finished the cave.
After 16 years of suffering in the cold each winter I have finally started my little warm hidaway in my shop. I was going to build it under the loft but I have too much moisture coming though the floor. So I have cleaned the loft up to make my cave there. It is going to be 12 ft x 16 ft.
First picture is the mess I had up there. Hauled off 4000 lbs of junk to the dump. Now I have room to build.

I haven't decided on what to use as insulation yet. All interior walls will be sheet rocked with mold resistant sheet rock. Out side walls will have OBS due to storage resting up against the outside walls except for the walkway wall which will have diamond plate on the bottom 4 feet. Spent 10 hours putting up the walls this weekend. Too pooped to take any pictures. Sorry.

I think the first thing i would do is build some hand rails for your staircase.

Gee Dennis, I could have hauled off that dumpy old black car and left you way more floor space!
and yes, handrail would be cool . Last edited by ETsC10; 03-30-2011 at 03:36 PM. |

Re: Getting ready to build the cave in the shop
Got a little more done this weekend.
Walls are studed, electric wiring is in, insulation is in and the drywall is up and has the first coat of mud.

Re: Getting ready to build the cave in the shop
Well 7 months later I have finished my cave. Work and life got in the way for a while.
And yes I did get some railings put on the stairs.

Did you decorate it yourself?
