Ignition bezel removal?
What's the best way to remove the old ignition bezel?. It has 3 notches around the edge but I didn't want to mess this new one up with a screwdriver. Thanks.......Jim

Use a rag on the end of your screw driver or you could always use a piece of wood. They make tools for that bezel, but they are metal and could scratch the chrome also. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

You can fabricate a tool from a piece of pipe (exhaust pipe, etc.). You weld three tabs on the end of the pipe to match the notches in the bezel. Use a grinder to make them fit snug. Use vise grips or pipe wrench around the pipe to rotate. Can also drill a hole through the end of the pipe to insert a srewdriver or bar.

I've always found it easiest to crank on the switch from the back side while you "hold and turn" the bezel with the other hand. That way no tools ever touch it. You can actually get it fairly tight that way. There's just enough wiggle to allow you to move it a fraction of a turn each time. Try it this way first, then break out the tools and bugger it up if you want!
