Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Hey thanks guy's. Yeah that's my Taco. It's an 07 4x4 with a Procomp 6" and a 3" body lift. I've done five 3" lifts on 05 and newer Tacoma's. It's pretty straight forward. Easier if there 2wd. Pm me if you get stuck on it.

I will do that.
Did you have any drive line vibration after doing any of the 3 inch lift(s)? 56hotrodred (Barry) |

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Some kits had the transmission spacer and some didn't. No drive line vibration on any so far. If your truck is a 4x4 make sure you take care of the front drive shaft boots when your working around them. It's easy to poke holes in them if your not careful. Then it's a pain to replace them!

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Yes it is a 4x4 and I will be careful. Thanks for the heads up.
The kit I have coming is a 3" Superlift with coilovers for the front, add-a-leaf and new shocks for the rear. I did not see a transmission spacer in the kit when looking at it on line. How thick is the spacer? 56hotrodred (Barry) |

Man, you wife is getting some mad skills. Should I be worried she is working in scrubs? That is coming along well.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
The kit you bought is a lot better than the ones they bought. Their kits were 2.5-3" spacers up front and 3" blocks in the rear. It's not a tranny spacer, it's a differential drop spacer (sorry for the mix-up). Here's a link to the install with a pic of the diff spacer.
http://www.readylift.com/p-126-ready...tallation.aspx OrrieG- I had just tacked the panel on when she came home from work (she's an RN). I gave her a flight suit to wear while she welded. After she was done, I ran inside to grab my camera. I made it clear this time that she was not to weld ANYTHING till I got back (she welded the tailgate closed the last time she was left alone with a welder). By the time I got back outside, she was out of the flight suit and ready to come in. I convinced her to just tack a little so I could get the shot. So the pic's I took are actually "poser pics" I guess.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Worked on the steering. I shortened the column and moved the gear selector closer to the firewall. I welded a muffler hanger to the column and it fit the dash holes perfectly. No more kicking the tires to steer it back in the garage!

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
How do you get her to weld in SCRUBS? You are fortunate and you definitely have a keeper! The truck looks amazing as does the older one in the background! Always impressed with your work and would like to meet you some day. My '54 still sits in the garage until our finances get better(or my kid get's into highschool and we are done with the private schooling). Until then it's nice watching you guys work on your American tin! Keep me inspired.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Thanks guy's. Daniel If I remember correctly you're from Paso right? My wife and son have never been to Pismo. I've promised them a couple of Pismo trips this summer. My boy wants to ride his dirt bike on the dunes. Hell I might even see if I can catch some air in my Tacoma. May be we could hook up one of these summer days.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
That is RED! Looks good, one question, will the rear shocks compress enough to let it lay all the way down? Could just be the photo angle be the notch and bag compression looks a lot deeper that the shock travel.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
There's 0 PSI in the bags F&R. This is the lowest the frame will drop. There's about 2.5-3 inches before the shock bottoms out. I set them at 30 deg.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Sgt, just did the full read, nice build you got going. Could you measure the hole positions for the fender emblems please? Vertically they seem to be just above the crease in a straight line.
I want to put them back on my 59 and thought your measurements would help. Cheers Barney |

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
It's been raining for the past few days. Unfortunately, I left my bed out in the yard and not in the garage. It's now serving as a midway shelter point for my dogs. I hope I don't get banned from the forum for cruelty to bare metal tin.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
80 grit or a 3m blue "shredded wheat" pad on a DA sander will take it off quickly without taking any of the base metal. You are forgiven ...

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Thanks guy's, I'm sure I'll get it sanded again. I'll have to remember to hit it with some primer next time. Well it stop raining & it's going to be back to that good ol Cali sunshine.
We just added the Pit-bull to our family. I was extremely hesitant to take him in. However, thanks to a bunch of back and forth PM's with Kabwe. He gave me some solid advice on the breed and I pulled the trigger and took him in. We've been really happy with him so far. Kabwe is a freaken awesome guy. I'll end it with that, before someone thinks I have a man crush on him!!! Hey B-Rubble, I'll get you those pics with measurements before the day is over.
