Hello, I am new member to this site but have been part of the classic truck family for 5 years when my dad baught original 67 chevy truck with a four speed and 292. I was in the 8th grade at the time. Since then we have painted it the orginal color, last year I rebuilt the 292 and I added some power into it. I got finished with the rebuilt after 9 months of work last aug. and then two weeks ago I baught a Tremek TKO 600 5 speed with overdrive and no useless granny gear. My question was about a tach though. My dad baught a gauge cluster from a different truck that had a factory tach. I plan on using this tack but I need to get it converted for a six cylinder from a v8. I have heard that there are places that can do this but I was seeing if anyone else has done this and has any suggestions. Thanks

P.S. I will post some pics of rebuild but as of now I dont have a whole lot of other photos of truck on my computer.

Are those Fenton headers??? I noticed you also got the harder to find early HEI also, Very cool.

I think it would be easier and cheaper to find a six cylinder tach Maybe someone on this board would be willing to trade you a good working six cylinder Tach for that eight cylinder one you have,"just a thought". .

The header are cast iron headers that Tom Langdons from langdons stovebolt engine co. sold me but I dont know of a brand name or anything. But for the tach I did a bit more research and there are 6 cylinder tachs out there but they are very rare. If anyone did have one I would be thrilled. I dont need the whole dash just the tach since I already have the lense with the numbers.

Find a 6 cylinder tach, they are fairly rare but not impossible to find. I have one for my 67 292, although I am waffling on installing it. It's a work truck, and I am afraid someone will steal the tach.

I will look for one but I saw some that have gone for 300 bucks, and I dont want to pay that but that might have included the dash too. Where did you end up getting yours from that you have?

One thing that I love about living in SD is that theft is minimal compared to some larger cities.

I am pretty sure I bought mine on this board. Usually they are priced about the same as an 8 cylinder tach. You should be able to sell the one you have and buy an 8 cylinder without paying too much extra.

Hopefully I can do that. When you got yours did you buy it with the whole cluster or just the tach itself. I already have the cluster and glass that I will need for the conversion but I suppose I could trade the whole thing for one that has inline tach. I found a place that also converts the tach for 200 bucks and I was wondering if that was more expensive then what you bought your inline 6 tach for. Thanks for the help

Can't help you out with your quest for a tach, but I must say that is a very sweet truck you have there and nice work that you have done on it so far.
