New User...need paint codes

Hi everybody,

I have viewed this forum for some time now, and it is invaluable. Anyway, this is my first post so go easy on me. I have a 1971 SWB cheyenne that is currently in the bodyshop. The painter called me today and said the paint code for orche is coming up as a brown color.... not as it should be. He cannot find any other paint code to match the orche color. Can somebody please help!! I believe he is using PPG paints so if you have the code for this paint it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Shane

Hank,

Thanks for the quick response. The website shows a 2323 as the paint code, but when the painter mixes it still turns out brown. Anybody else have any idea's??

Ochre color code on my glove box is #511. I just had centari paint mixed for my rear bumper gravel shield at a dupont paint store. No problem, they just put in that code and it matched great!!

What is he using for primer under the paint? You get the best effect from your paint if you use primer that has the same base color. That is, painting ochre, orange etc. you would (should) use a yellow tinted primer. Would the primer he is using on the truck be red?

Show some pics of your truck when its painted....Mine is ochre too and i love it! Pretty cool color, and it is easy to find in a parking lot. Good to see someone keeping it ochre instead of painting it a different color .

BTW, mine says #511 on the glovebox door too.

Thanks everybody for the replies. I think we got the right paint color now. Its kinda hard to tell for sure.....I'm in Idaho and my truck is in Wyoming. I guess the color just looked brown in the can, but when sprayed it turns out to be ochre color. I will post pic's when I get a chance.
