Re: Mid-Shorty Headers

I dont think i'd even have to cut anything. my dumb@$$ PO had a 348 W block in it and cut the towers super skinny.

Re: Mid-Shorty Headers

I just purchased some 68608 hedmans at an auction. These are the ones listed above that I need to modify the engine mount correct? Would the ccp motor mounts be any better? Either way I paid 100 bucks and they are brand new so I can modify something if I have too.

I don't know about the CPP mounts but you will have to modify your factory frame mounts to use those headers. Check out the pictures i posted on the first page. The mounts from performance online look like they might have even more clearance than the cpp ones.

sorry the picture didnt show for me but, I found the ones your talking about. any how the problem with the headers fitting on these trucks is the First/Front Pipe/Tube comes down and hits the motor mount stand. So that means that Pipe/Tube needs to be ran up top of all the rest to get clearance. so something like this would work with out having to modify the motor mount stands. Least thats my understanding from all I have read and seen pictures of.

Re: Mid-Shorty Headers

I got visited by the brown box guy I finely took the plunge and found some 3/4 Length headers after doing some searching for low priced but Decent headers I could not find none in my price range so I purchased a Set off Ebay, I know some think this would have been a bad idea. I heard about the Ebay Headers not fitting or being cheap quality with the product or the finish. I choose to go a head and get some headers that I would end up putting a Finish on them my self. I have done it in the past and It holds up 100% so I will attempt it again. I also Sent this guy quit a few Emails asking questions about his headers before purchasing and he was instantly responding each time. These Headers have 3" collector, 1 5/8" primaries and 3/8" Flanges.

Here is also a Link for you all that are interested http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_2288wt_918

In these two pictures are the only Problems I found with a flawless Fit. But I was ok with this because I already read places this maybe the case. I would rather modify and shave some off the frame then to have to modify the Towers for the motor mounts.

Re: Mid-Shorty Headers

I used dynomax mid length chevelle headers. I had to send back the headers a few times to keep them from hitting the sparkplugs, but they dropped into the 72 pictured here.
