Re: 1960 chevy unibody pickup
wow, very interesting...it does look like it has been sitting there for a very long time, & it looks like really good condition...the paint also looks to have an original appearance....very cool whatever it is!

Re: 1960 chevy unibody pickup
Yes Allan as your picture shows. Seems after Ford introduced the design, people who loaded their trucks, complained that they could not open the doors when parked on uneven terrain. Ford soon abandoned the idea. You can imagine the problem with stress cracks that would have developed after a while.

Re: 1960 chevy unibody pickup
That is very interesting......I have to agree that this truck had to have started life as a Suburban (Caryall). You can tell by looking at the top of the bed and the back of the cab. The side of the cab behind the door isn't the same as on a pickup, nor is the raised part of the roof. It's hard to say just when it was built. Hopefully there will be some indication once you get it home and cleaned up. Who knows, it may have been a very limited production from one of the coach builders back then.

Re: 1960 chevy unibody pickup
I'd almost bet money that somewhere on the body you'll find a coachbuilder's tag. I'm with the others in saying "converted carry-all". And with that color, it almost should say US Navy on the doors. Still, that thing is bad ass and a great find! More pix please!

Re: 1960 chevy unibody pickup
I was going cut it up and make a pro street. But since I don't know what this is and it is complete it will stay the way it is. I even have it in an enclosed trailer because I am not sure I want to wash it. My buddy and I already have a f1 pro street that will be done in a couple of months, frame motor. suspension is done. Just got the body back from the dipper and starting the body now. It is already going to be in SEMA for next year.

Re: 1960 chevy unibody pickup
Would decoding theVIN tell you if its a converted carry-all? Did they have seperate codes?
