who has GOOD chrome bumpers?
I am looking for front and rear bumpers for my 67 gmc longstep, and have recently read about bad experiences with chromed bumpers.
Does anyone have a good source they recommend I check with? Thanks M.G. Out of lurk mode for now! :-) |

I am looking for a front bumper. I checked out GMC Paul
and the one there has a good guarantee. I sent him a query for total price including shipping. With what I have read lately and my own experience with UPS. $12 to send maybe 1/2lb of weight, I might not be able to afford it. I would also be worried about them tearing it open to make sure it was a bumper. EdB |

BUMPERS ARE A HASSLE!
Most dealers are selling the same ones, now. They are pretty good, when there are no problems. There are some real cheap, thin, poor bumpers at some of the wholesale body parts places.
The prices are good, the thickness is right, the chrome can be great or lousy---you never know...and the "quality control" is terrible! One will have smooth nice finish and the next one in the same run will have real rough surface prep under the chrome. I opened one this week with big grinder gouges all over the face of it. That is why I don't want to ship this stuff. I open the chrome parts here, with the customer. We inspect them together and I pull or discount the bad ones. My bumpers cost a couple dollars more than the mail order places. This picture is one of the "good" 5-yr warrany bumpers that came right out of the new box like this...This is an extreme case, but we never know. |

I can't beleive they would put that in a box and sell it, that's disgusting! Name the maker and lets all give them some input on their quality control problem.

Being from Michigan I can forget finding a good used bumper. Is there anyplace in Michigan that carries bumpers for our trucks?
hmm....I sure thought this would be easier. Thanks M.G. |

Is Tim Christian aka www.christiansclassics.com?
I already perused their site, looks like fair prices for the bumpers ($60 less than Brothers) Looks like they are in TN....is that the closest to Michigan? Thanks M.G. |

In 1991 I did a bunch of stuff to my '72, including a front chrome bumper from GSPP. They said it had a lifetime guarantee; if it ever rusts, it'll be replaced free. It never has, and I'm not much on regular washing or polishing. The Beast is my daily driver and sits out in the weather all year every year. Dunno if they are still that good!
