Steering wheel swap
Are there any 'tricks' to putting a '77 steering wheel on a '70?
The stock steering wheel is too big for the 'gravitationally challanged' individuals...*ME* @ 17.5". The '77 is 16"...not much help but with this one...if I cough...I wont send the truck in the ditch..hahah. I'm assuming the column shafts are the same size and taper. I'd really like some advice and/or comments on this...and as always ...any and all are greatly appreciated. Billy G

You'd be even better off getting one off of a later truck or blazer. I think they may be 15 inch, and they are padded, adn IMO, look much better than the '77 wheel.

Can you spell "tilt"? If you go with a later model wheel up to around 95, they are not air bagged and come in a lot of different configs---2,3,4 spoke wheels. Think it through as some have lower spokes that block your lower gauges. I went to a tilt column out of a Van and a steering wheel out of a Corvette. Works out with my challenged horizontal verses vertical measurements (----)Huck

Billy G--What are you ideling at? I'm sure you've already adjusted the idle screw on the upper side of the carb. Is all you linkage moving freely? Is the choke plate wide open? Just some simple stuff I usually overlook. Let me know if you need anymore pics.
I've got the same steering wheel as dubie does. I want another one that's larger, but I'm 6'4" and I don't think it will work out too well. I don't have power steering either, but at least I'm building muscles this way.
