Tilt steering column
I know this has been mentioned alot, but I didn't right down the info. That is what happens when you have part timers. I need to know what late model steering columns with tilt are a fairly easy swap. This will have an automatic on the floor not the column. I would go back to the seventy two tilt for our trucks, but I have already modified the painless wiring harness for a late model. The problem is the column I have is kinda out of sorts and it hits where the brake booster is supposed to be mounted. Thus I can not install the booster/master cylinder. Sorry to ramble guys. Wootdog

Other than the aftermarket columns ( like from Ididit), all I've ever seen in these trucks is the tilts from the 73-80 trucks... I remember seeing an article in Classic Trucks a few years back that detailed the process, it involved shortening the column much like the van tilts as I recall, but was basically a slam dunk...

any GM column from 87 and older will fit of course with modifications because of the firewall differences, ever considered getting a column out of a late 80's van pr RV with the newer wiring?

Mine has a tilt/telescopic from a 79/80 Caddy or Pontiac. (unsure which as it had a Caddy key and a Pontiac wheel) This had the shifter on the column but it was removed as mine is floor shift. The shifter nub is still there but that's what bandana's are for.
And ugh! that reminds me...I just found out what my floor shifter is out of. A Ford Aerostar of all things! That's got to go. All this time, I wasn't sure what it came from but while in the junkyard, I was looking in vans and there it was...my shifter! Im thinking of building a floor shifter from scratch. Using my B&M star shifter and the stock floor shifter in my 72 Chevelle as a guide, I may make one myself. Would be a nice winter project...
