Info on mirrors - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My truck still has the factory "four pole" mirrors that stick a foot out of the truck. My question is what kind of mirrors do you guys have on your trucks. Pictures would be great. After I fill the old holes I don't really want to have to drill more so clamp on ones would be great. Let me know where you bought them and for how much. Thanks

the only clamp on mirror that I know of is that little round one that clamps to the top of your door, you could probably get those at Gasoline Alley in coquitlam or the Old Car Centre in Langley, What neck of the woods you from

i think from pickups northwest in Snohomish.

here it is CE-3055 $60 each im sure you can find them cheaper
just select mirros, outside and 1972 then click search

the ones in the picture are sport mirrors ($35 a side), the kind that attach to the drip rail are peep mirors I have them in also, in a 3" or 4" round head or a rectangular head ($12 for the round and $15 for the rectangular)

What are the added benefits of using the peep mirrors along with the side mirrors?
I have considered just using the peep mirrors.

none they are almost usless they just look nice, and you dont have to drill holes

I always thought that the original peep mirrors were made for the stepside models with the side mounted spare.
When you have the spare mounted it is hard to see what is behind you.
I think that GM made several attempts at resolving this issue.

I live right above gasoline alley in Port Coquitlam, 5 min away tops. I have not been in there yet as I only got my truck a couple of weeks ago. I believe I am buying a pair of these off of this guy.

Like rickspickupart said they look nice but don't work that great, but then a guy I know has no side mirrors, he doesn't like them

I've always liked the stock 69 and older base model mirrors. Some made it onto the '70 trucks...my '70 longhorn had them on there still.
This is the pest pic I have of mine, I never really tried to take a pic of them.

I have a peep mirror on my truck and that is just so that it is legal. No, it's not shaved or modified, unless you call rust and primer modified. I must tell you that even though you can't see a whole lot with that peep mirror, you do get used to it and know how to use it.
If you want a functional mirror I would go buy something that screws to your door like I will with my new truck.

mine only took 3 little holes...just measure 20 times

and drill once.
