water in the trans....NOT GOOD.
Well today I filled up the trans after getting the engine in and running. I went for a 'test' drive and made it about 100 yards before the trans went out. I got it home, checked the fluid and it was a strawberry shake!

Build the TH350, and get a new radiator. Then enjoy the truck without all the work to swap it over.

Only time I want a manual transmission is on a 1 ton or higher work truck. Build the 350 and move on with it.

Re: water in the trans....NOT GOOD.
Yeah, I love to shift gears (especially 1-2 and 3-4 on a 4spd) but I'd say unless your driving for fun, an automatic would be easier...

Re: water in the trans....NOT GOOD.
ill agree that manuals are more fun and better, as long as you dont have to drive in city stop and go traffic.. otherwise id say build back the th350.... i can get them done complete at a local trans shop for about $500..and im told thats the high end

Re: water in the trans....NOT GOOD.
Hey Thanks guys. I am gonna pull the trans out this week and take it to a guy that has done a few for me before. They usually run around $450 w/shift kit and new converter w/warranty. It just really sicks cause I have been waiting so long to get this thing on the road.

Re: water in the trans....NOT GOOD.
Well, I just got off the phone with my transmission builder, he convinced me to go with a 700r4. He is going to put in the hardened shafts and sun shell,non-lock up converter so I have a 4spd automatic and a shift kit for $950 w/ warranty! He told me to get the 92-93 trans. And since I have the 9" tail on my TH350,it'll be a direct swap(just have to move the x-member back).

Re: water in the trans....NOT GOOD.
Sweet! You will like having the overdrive behind that 350 when you are on the road.
