Wink Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I am just wondering if anyone has a 350 SBC with headers and quiet mufflers they could send me a sound bite or direct me too. I am wondering what mufflers to put on my truck to make it sound "tamer" lol

I like the Dynomax quiet flows. Good characteristics until you really get on it, then they sound similar to a stock lt1 Camaro .

The older I get, the quieter everything seems.........

I'm going with as big of a Magnaflow as I can fit.

Running Flowmastewr 40 series, and having Electric Cut-Outs installed as I type!

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I grew up in the "if you can't make it run, make it loud" era. So, my trucks will have exhaust systems that you can hear. A monotonous droning sound is annoying, as is a harmonic noise that causes vibrations. In that case, it may be stock muffler or an aftermarket one that is the culprit. If it is loud enough, the harmonic will be drowned-out.

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I already have a 67 with a 350 with performance parts, headders and flowmaster 40 series. Its a pretty loud truck IMO.... but I want something that is not as loud on my other truck so My buddies neighbors aren't complaining everytime I leave late at night or early in the morning.

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I'm looking for something quieter too - have dual Magnaflows. I don't mind it but the kids won't let me drive them to school - they like the truck, but say the noise is embarrassing....

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I have magnaflows on my Blazer and am definetly changing them! Funny how only one post made somewhat of a suggestion towards cheapy turbo mufflers for less noise, I'm in agreement and plan to make the swap before anyone asks if there's a hole in my muffler!

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I just pulled the magnas off of mine and replaced them with cheap turbos.Quiet at speed and has a nice rumble at idle. With my cars if its loud it's slow. The quiet ones are the fast ones.Very happy with my cheap turbos.

I'll probably go this route or something similar to it. I want a set of electric cutouts for when I'm feeling rowdy!

Post some pictures of your exhaust once you get it installed.

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

This was at the shop, after they cut the Collector, and before they started re-routing the new exhaust.

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I have long tube headers with quiet pipes. I like it. The induction is much louder than the exhaust. I've got a single plane high rise manifold with a 390 holley. You can literally peek through the carb and see valves. That along with with the small venturis make for a loud combination when my foot's in it.

The mufflers are 20" X 11" X 5" with 2.5" pipe. They tuck in nicely. I don't have a sound clip, but they're Cadillac quiet.

Re: Anyone have headers with quiet mufflers?

I run Dynomax Super Turbos, with a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, and an X-Pipe, with the tubes dumping over the rear. I like to call it quiet fast.

jhwkns that is a nice looking truck. I like the subdued look with the stock hubcaps. Got any more pics of it?

Thanks for the compliment, but this thread's about mufflers.

When I get it polished out, I'll get some good pictures to post. I've only got a couple for now.
