What is the widest wheel (with what offset) you can run and still keep it tucked with stock suspension? Just from looking I think with the right offset a 12" wide wheel would be ok. I have 8" rallys right now with 275/60's and they appear to be about 4 1/2" from the u bolts on the leaf spring pack. I was just wondering about doing this for a mini pro street look without going all out on new suspension pieces at this time. Once I get the 64 Chevy going next year no telling what might be in store for the Jimmy.

Brad,
I was looking at moving the springs inboard and narrowing the rear end. It looked like you could swap the spring hangers side-to-side and box the end of the rails. I think it would work, but I didn't have the $$$ to do it.

Jon I had thought about that also a while back and posted something on here about it I believe but I cannot recall what the potential problem was somebody brought up. Oh btw how does Sunday afternoon sound on bringing the seat and stuff down? Maybe meet in either Mckinney or Rockwall? I will try to get in touch with you a little later about it if you don't see it here.

I know that the front and back positions differ. The back tires are set in more and the front are wider. That does make it easier to run a bigger tire in back while seem like it matches the front.

about the relocation- I figured it might work using a c-notch and flip kit. I did some rudimentary measuring, and I think it might work. If you want to come all the way down here, you are welcome to measure my truck. The bed is off.

Jon I have two bare frames at the moment lol. Both short bed frames if you know anyone down that way who might need one. Neither will have any suspension on them but they are free if anyone can use them. Both have spots that have been fixed at one time previously.

From what I remember, a 12" will fit under, but I can't remember what the backspacing was. As for moving the springs inboard, the only thing you have to do is box the frame on the insides and move the spring perchs. A old 73-87 friend of mine did that.

I have seen a local truck with the springs moved inside the frame rails. The tires he was able to run on the back were enormous...

I have some 8"x10" in the back w/ 4" or 4-1/2" rear spacing.
I kow you could fit some 12's back there is you got a smaller rear space like 3" or 3-1/2" (would have to check for clearanc).
Tires on the 10's are 295/50/r15 and the wall of the tire almost lines up with the outer lip of the wheel well.
