Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
Radiator and Fan, hopefully in their permanent residence.
Moved the alternator with a bracket from currentperformance.com. Replaced the attached camaro reservoir with a Corvetter remote reservoir. I cross threaded my high pressure line for the power steering pump, so none of the lines are in their permanent place just yet.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
I got all of my fenders back from the shop a couple weeks ago, I went with dark metallic green. They are waiting to wet sand them until they are bolted back on the truck. They did wet sand a couple spaces to give me an idea of what they looked like. They've got my hood right now. I welded in the center of it before I dropped it off (forgot to take a pic).
I thought they did a great job cleaning up my cadillac tunnels. Hopefully this truck will be running enough to pull it up on a trailer in a few weeks and get it painted.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
Luckily my cousin has been doing most(99%) of the wiring. I would be completely lost if he weren't helping out at this point.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
It's the color code for 02' Chevrolet trucks. My dad and uncle ended up talking me into it, and I'm very happy with the way it looks.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
I looked everywhere I knew for a metric thread file or a 16mm die. Fastenal, Autozone, O'reilly's and couldn't find one. I ended up at O'reilly's getting something else a few days later and saw on their counter that they loaned the kit. The guy that worked there didn't even know they had it (or what a thread file was). It worked like a champ and saved me about sixty bucks.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
Anybody know how much spacing is supposed to be between the cab and bed, or is that dictated by the space between the fender and the running board?
Is there supposed to be a small gap between the running board and bed to keep them from squeaking or should I get them as close as possible? Thanks, Matt

This does not look like an amateur to me, looks like a pro. What kind of motor mounts did you use? Thanks Bill

The motor mounts that came with the ez swap kit were for a sbc, so I just got some ls-sbc plates that mount on the engine. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
Congratulations on your newest addition Matt. My youngest son left June 27th to the United States Air Force. Man it seems like only yesterday that I was teaching him to drive. The following picture was taken the day he left. He was not to happy that he was not going to be here to help work on the truck. Don

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
He is signed up for an 8 year tour. That may give me enough time to get the truck done.

Re: Be Gentle. . . I'm an Amateur.
Thanks for all the comments and compliments everybody.
I did have some time when I was off work for a couple of weeks to do some little stuff. I lowered the bed 2" to match up with the running boards. I moved my rear axle forward 1 1/2". I got the radiator hoses hooked up and the driveshaft cut down about five inches and balanced with a new u-joint. I thought I got a great craigslist deal on some 16" rally wheels. I sanded them down and painted them flat black. Visions of whitewall tires were in my head. I measured the center so I could go buy some bullet centers to go with the trim rings and decided to make sure they fit on the truck first (something you think you would do before you handed over cash). Turned out they were 5 x 5 bolt pattern instead of 5 X 4.75. Excitement had taken over when I was buying them I measured backspacing, diameter and width and I didn't even think to measure the bolt pattern. I assumed all 5 stud GM wheels would be the same. Lesson learned. In case anyone was wondering, I went ahead and stopped by the shop that sales the bullet center caps and they said that they've never seen a set of stock rims that would work with aftermarket bullet style center caps. I had never really seen them, but they acted like they're really popular. A few months ago I had seen a picture of this truck and fell in love with them.
