Something fishhy
Putting the rebuilt back into the chassis, and something isnt adding up. i bolted the engine to the tranny, with the mounts already bolted to the engine. the mounts were a bisatch to line up to the holes in the towers. when they did finally line up, i ran a new 3/8"bolt into the holes. the bolts are about 1 1/2"long. they went in tight, but wont torque up. it almost feels like somethings stripped. but everything, including the mounts, are brand new. any ideas? im stumped. thanx in advance

The bolts that screw into the mounts to connect them to the towers need to be 7/16-14 thread if you have factory mounts.

Dale,
I recently replaced my mounts with some that I bought at AutoZone. Same part number for both sides, but after I had them bolted to the block and lowered down, I realized that the threaded insert in the passenger side was a 7/16 and the drivers side was 3/8. I looked at the boxes again and sure enough, they were the same part number. Good Luck, Kent

I just had the exact same situation about two weeks ago, and I can second that autozone motor mounts can have either 3/8 or 7/16 threads. I has the same problem with the transmission mount....
