Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

This truck has been listed on and off on Craigslist for quite some time now. It seems really high priced to me, but it does have some nice options... 4x4, AC, shortbed, tilt, tach. It looks pretty rough though.

What do you guys think?

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

It looks rusty in the rockers. If it only needs outer rockers and the missing tailgate to get the body solid it is not way out of line for what it is.that said there are alot of nice trucks on the market for less in this economy and being able to shop online.

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

Looks like lots of potential. The tilt would be added, and the 327 wouldn't be a 4 bolt main, so i would question some originality.

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

I am no expert by any means and correct me if I am wrong, but the 327c.i.'s had turbo400's, not 350. Correct?

It does seem a little fishy i would say, and the price is very high for that condition.

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

Chevrolet never made a 4 bolt main 327. They could be built by using a large journal 327 crank in a 4 bolt 350 block.

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

I agree not completly original... TH350 and NP-205 combo was not available..in fact no auto trans at all in a 4x4 in that year.Would have had to been 3 or 4 speed manual with a Rockwell T-221

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

I was thinking it wasn't too bad a deal until you look at the details. True value might be half asking price unless the rust is worse than it appears.

It's no where near as original as the seller thinks.

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

It would be worth that price with no rusted out rockers and truly original. The non-original parts could well enhance the price if the truck was restored, which it isn't. Can't make money off of what the next guy might do to it,which is what so many sellers seem to think.

1968 chevy 4x4 pickup fleetside short bed 1/2 ton truck with 327 4 bolt main motor and 350 automatic trans with 205 gear to gear transfercase. Factory tilt wheel column and factory a/c with tach in dash. All original runs and drives very well! One of 1449 hundred ever made!!!! Highly collectable truck and very rare! will only increase in value! 6500.00

My guess is he is not aware of what is factory and what isn't? Most likely he was told this was a factory original truck. That is what makes this site special. All we need to do is ask and we have lots of folks with the answers.
All in all that would be a sweet truck to restore. I guess I would like to see what the actual overall condition of the truck is.

Re: Does this truck seem real expensive to you?

That is a $1,500 to $1,800 dollar truck. Only because it's a 4X4.
