The wood is a metal panel that gm printed the woodgrain onto the metal.

the woodgrain is on and aluminum insert that is held in place by the stainless trim. the woodgrain is the upgrade from custom deluxe to cheyenne and so forth.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Parchment Door Panels

Question about these... Is the scroll still underneath the woodgrain panel? I ask because i'm not sure yet whether i will be restoring my truck to a Custom/10 or a Cheyenne. If there is the factory scroll work under that panel, I'll take them.

Thanks

yfs200p, there will be the factory scroll underneath unless someone went through the trouble of installing the woodgrain and stainless trim to a set of standard 72 door panels. All of the Deluxe 72 panels had the scroll whether they were Cheyenne/Cheyenne Super or Deluxe.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Parchment Door Panels

cheyenne402 - if you can tell from the back if they have the scroll (without having to take the wood panel off) and LMK, that would be great. Also send me some payment info.

Thanks

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Parchment Door Panels

For the parchment panels if you very lightly media blast them all of the yellow chalking will come off. Your panel will be more of a flat color but will otherwise look really nice and almost new. The areas where the chalking is scratched through to good plastic will also be gone. I've done it a couple of times with really good results and you won't have to worry about paint adhesion. This kind of plastic is very difficult to get good adhesion to. You'll have to remove the inserts or mask them really weil. I'd remove them.

I apologize, I didn't see your post with all the info being posted

Yes there is scrollwork under the woodgrain as was mentioned. All the original doorpanels for the Cheyennes had scrollwork under them.

Thanks.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Parchment Door Panels

Thanks Stingray for the tip on media blasting, it worked perfect. guy who did it for me also suggested I clear coat them with semigloss since the surface is pourous and will stain/absorb dirt without protection.
