im switchin to the 100mph speedo

im switchin over the a 100mph speedometer from the older trucks, is there anything special i need to do? ive heard something bout a vss sensor but i have no clue what the hell it does lol. but i gotta put everything backtogether so i can get a loan which sucks lol. i dont mind the font for the time being as ill just print off a new label and put it on to match my new gauges that a bought...

there is no VSS as the speedometers are cable driven. shouldnt have to do anything but regear for the speedo.

The VSS is a green box that was used for the cruise control. I'm not sure of the hookup on the 100 mph speedo. If you don't have cruise, don't worry about it.

As far as regearing, no need to. Nothing changes when changing speedos. Just hook it up and go.

i have cruise control but it throws its self wide open most of the time so i un hooked it

The VSS is the little green box with the optic cable that plugs into the back of the speedo. The speedo cable hooks up the same as on a 85 mph speedo.

As Mike said, it is just a simple replace. The connections are the same and the speedo ratio is the same. The ONLY things different is the font and you would need the VSS to use the cruise. Since you aren't, and are willing to overlook the fonts, it is a simple plug in.
