Re: power drum breaks

add the booster, the brackets that hold the booster to the firewall, replace the pushrod, that's it. You don't even have to replace the brake lines, just gently pull the master cylinder away from the firewall. I recently swapped mine from power (with a junk booster) to manual.

Re: power drum breaks

Thanks for the info guys. Question, where does the vacuum line hook up to from the power booster on an inline 6?

lol...I learned real quick to change my braking habits, in how hard to push the brake pedal...I almost hit the windshield my 1st time

But all I did was buy a new power brake booster & added it to my manual drum brake setup. It was a VERY good upgrade!!!

I believe on inline 6's (I used to have one) there is a pipe plug on the side of the intake manifold. Pull this plug out & put in a fitting for a 3/8 vacuum line hose. Hook this to the power brake unit.

Re: power drum breaks

Re: where to hookup.

You can remove the plug under the carb on the intake manifold and install a power booster adapter you can get at Auto Zone. I just did a brake job on my 68 and reinstalled my old brake booster that I removed a couple of years ago.

If you go to the salvage yards for one, also get the brake push rod inside the cab. It's easier to remove the push rod after you remove the engine bay bracket asm. This way you can push the brake pedal forward to access the bolt.

Shattered drums is from lack of inspecting the drums... just like the shattered disk rotor I replaced last month at work on an international box truck.
